The problem

A manufacturing operation conducting regular store visits at major UK retail locations was capturing visit information on paper forms that were then typed up back at the office. Photos were taken on personal phones and emailed separately. There was no consistent format, no central record of issues raised, and no way to track whether actions from previous visits had been resolved.

What was built

A mobile-friendly web application that field staff use on-site during store visits. The app handles:

  • Store selection and visit logging
  • Structured issue capture by category
  • Photo capture directly in the app, attached to the relevant issue
  • Previous visit history visible on-site for comparison
  • Action tracking — issues raised can be assigned and followed up
  • Automatic report generation after each visit
  • Management dashboard showing issue trends across all stores and visit frequency

Designed to work on mobile browsers with no app installation required.

The outcome

Paper forms eliminated. Visit reports available immediately after completion rather than days later. Photo evidence attached directly to issues rather than in separate email threads. Management visibility of store performance and issue trends for the first time.
